If You Want to Fight! Join the Marines -
Another poster featuring Howard Chandler Christy's famous "Christy Girl." It is a little difficult to completely understand the artist's thinking here. The girl in this case, instead of being alluring, is upright and strong in a starched formal uniform, when men in the background trudge off to war. Is the artwork really about joining the Marines, or is it more about the rising strength and independence of women in America. Women would get the right to vote two years after this poster was printed. Is the poster really saying, if you want to fight join the suffrage movement.
