No. WP-118 Sow the seeds of Victory! When President Wilson created the Committee on Public Information in 1917 to encourage patriotism and support for the War, part of the message was the conservation of food. The National War Garden Commission was also established in 1917 to address a critical food shortage. Popular artists volunteered to help. A number of posters were published. Here James Montgomery Flagg is promoting the concept that growing a garden was an important way to help the war effort and be a good American. Other posters promoted home canning and offered instructional pamphlets.
